How to use Aldric Blogger Template

Download the Aldric Blogger Template (Zip format) and extract the contents to a location on your computer. The extracted content will have following folder structure -

  • Aldric_Template_With_Slider.xml – Template installation file (With Featured Content Slider)
  • Aldric_Template_Without_Slider.xml – Template installation file (Without Featured Content Slider)
  • Read_Me.txt
  • logo.psd

Once extracted, upload the template (.xml file) using the instruction found here.

Template Configuration

Configure Aldric blogger template as per instruction provided below –

Configure Meta Tags

You need to configure Meta Tags (Site Description and Keywords) for Home Page. Instructions for meta tags configuration is available here.

Configure Favicon Image

Favicon Image configuration is optional. However, if you wish to configure, use the instruction provided here.

Upload Your Header Logo

Aldric Blogger Template also comes with logo.psd file. You can customize the logo using Photoshop and upload the file using instruction provided here.

The image size of logo must be in following dimensions: Width = 222px and Height = 108px

Configure Secondary Navigation Menu

The secondary navigation menu is available at the top as shown in the below image. Menu contains links to Post RSS, Comment RSS, Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and Contact Me items.

Post RSS and Comment RSS links are already configured. To configure remaining links, follow below instruction –

Goto Template > Edit Html and search for following lines of code –

<li><a href='Your Google Plus URL'>Google Plus</a></li>

  • Replace the text Your Facebook URL with your own Facebook URL
  • Replace the text Your Twitter URL with your own Twitter URL
  • Replace the text Your Google Plus URL with your own Google Plus URL
  • Replace the text mailto:[email protected] with your own Email Id

Configure Primary Navigation Menu

Aldric template comes with simple css based navigation menu. Instructions to configure Primary Navigation Menu is provided here.

Social Media Follow Links

For social media follow links we recommend using AddThis.com service. They are quite reliable and extremely easy to configure based on your requirements.

You can add social media links using HTML/Javascript page elements. Instructions to include AddThis.com social media follow links is provided here.

Configure Featured Content Slider

For featured content slider you need to configure Image URL and Target URL.

Image URL: Represents the URL of Image which will be used for featured content slider. For Aldric template, you need to configure 4 Image URLs.

Target URL: When user clicks on Slider image, this URL (Target URL) will be displayed. For Aldric template, you need to configure 4 Target URLs.

To configure Image URL and Target URL, goto Template > Edit Html and search for below lines of code

  1. Replace the text SLIDE-1-URL-HERE with your own Target URL.
  2. Now, look for attribute src=’path to an image’. Replace path to an image with your own Image URL.

Repeat above two steps for remaining 3 sliders as well.

The image size of Featured Content Slider must be in following dimensions: Width = 615px and Height = 300px
